Posted November 3, 2011
Christine Jozitis. a recent graduate of Lesley College with a B.S. in art therapy, has been invited to display her art work at the Massachusetts State House.

State Representative Jeffrey Sánchez (D-Jamaica Plain) will host an art reception for Jozitis, a Jamaica Plain resident and artist. The reception will held in Room 130 at the Massachusetts State House on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 from 4 pm to 7 p.m. Jozitis’ art exhibit is entitled “Internal Navigation” and will showcase a plethora of artistic genres such as paintings and mixed media.
Jozitis says of her work, “My work is mainly about experience. Through art, I elaborate on my own human relationships and experiences with the hope that others will relate to the universal journey and process, and begin to examine their own. I like using art to communicate an emotion and to bridge the gaps between what we struggle to verbalize. I am drawn to art because of its ability to act as a universal language. My goal in being an artist is not to showcase myself and my work, but rather to use art as a tool to influence education, communication, self-expression, and healing.”
Jozitis further states, “I am excited to participate in this show because I feel that it is important for the state entities to support the arts. The arts are such a vital part of our community and culture. I’m happy to be a part of something that will let artists and aspiring artists know that they are supported and needed in our community.”
Jozitis currently works for a non-profit that provides community employment services, habilitation, and clinical services for adults who have autism.
